Marble Speedway is a permanent exhibit at The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. Working with Fire Burns Up and a fabrication partner, I helped build a large-scale marble run where custom billiard balls travel through roughly 350 feet of track. The project took more than a year to complete and involved a team of up to five people during the busiest parts of the build.
My work covered experience design, mechanical and electrical systems, software, networking, prototyping, fabrication and installation. The finished exhibit includes 24 interactive track components, six arcade-style kiosks, custom lifts and elevators, live track video, digital signage, audio, a 26-foot display and a machine-learning system for identifying the balls as they move through the course.
