Global Mood Clocks

The Global Mood Clocks was a Flash website, and Adobe AIR desktop and mobile application that displayed a set of clocks representing the “mood” of a city. The mood was determined by sampling geo-tagged photos uploaded to Flickr, and the top Google & Twitter keywords, in “real-time”.

Each clock presented a series of rings representing the hours. The current hour would was indicated and sets of dots would be distributed around the rings based on the time that the images were uploaded.

I remember in those days using a SOAP request to a remote server to retrieve the data and how annoying manually traversing xml trees was.

I have a fond memory of bringing the Global Mood Clock to display on a crazy Friday at the infamous and much-missed Detour Bar’s ridiculous dubstep night - my friend Peter owned the place!
